Contributors
We are looking for learning designers who share our passion for creating accessible, engaging, and transformative education for all.
As a contributing designer, your role will be to craft interactive learning content that supports people entering or re-entering the workplace. We call our learning content “mico-lessons”, 5 to 20-minute lessons that teach participants something of immediate and lasting value.
And if you’re also happy to deliver the micro-lesson you create on camera, that would also be great, but not expected.
We handle 80% of the heavy lifting of the learning design, providing you with the template, structure, and tools to bring the content to life.
Your job is to bring your expertise and ideas to the table and work with us to create an epic module ranging from 4 to 40 minutes.
Share your interest by getting in touch here.
Step-by-Step Guide to Contributing as a Learning Designer
1. What Would You Love to Teach?
The first step is to think about what you would love to teach people who want to work but need guidance and skills. What wisdom do you have to share?
It can be on any topic. It just simply needs to be of value to the people that love our micro-lessons and be able to be packaged into a 5 to 20-minute micro-lesson.
2. Initial Collaboration and Onboarding
Next, we'll send you some dates for a phone call to welcome you to the Foundation and discuss your ideas in greater detail.
3. Design
If you already have learning content designed or want to design it from scratch yourself, we'll send you a template for how we structure our micro-lessons.
Alternatively, if you'd like for us to do the initial design based on your idea, we can. We will create the content and then send it to you for editing.
4. Final Iteration
Once the first design has been completed, our team will edit it to become a finished product and share the final version with you for any final comments and edits.
Once complete, it will be written word-for-word how it will be delivered to the camera.
5. Filming
If you’d like also to deliver your micro-lesson on camera, that would be awesome! It’s also fine if you don’t. We will film the content and, of course, you’ll be celebrated as the writer.
If you would like to be on camera, we will organise a filming location of your choice.
It will typically take 2 hours, and all you need to do is be ready to read with energy from the teleprompter (so you don’t need to learn your lines!)
We will have a pre-call before the filming and send some fun hints and tips on how to be comfortable and effective on camera. It will always be fun!
6. Lesson Launch & Impact
Your micro-lesson will be integrated into the Showing Up Foundation’s learning platform.
We will ensure that learners have access to your content and provide data on engagement and feedback.
You can celebrate your contribution, including at our annual contributors event.
