Many of these individuals aspire to work but face barriers such as a lack of confidence, skills, or guidance on where to begin. They don’t lack the will to work; they lack the support to take that first step.
The Showing Up Foundation offers free training for individuals who want to enter or re-enter the workplace but feel stuck.
We help people gain the confidence and skills to move forward because everyone deserves the chance to work, contribute, and build a better future for themselves.

The Landscape
A member of our founding team lives in Clacton-on-Sea, a town he loves for its beautiful beaches, vibrant independent businesses, and its warm and resilient community. Yet, like many towns, Clacton has a staggering unemployment rate of 46%, symbolising a growing national crisis: over 3 million working-age individuals are economically inactive due to long-term sickness. This is forecast to increase to 4.1 million.
Living on benefits is not the life most would choose - but there is a lack of investment, support, and hope for those who find themselves in this situation. We’re here to help change that.
